Dr. Kyle Melton is an active professional tenor, voice teacher, American Prize award-winning stage director, author, and researcher. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Vocology from the National Center for Voice and Speech. He offers private voice lessons and coachings internationally via Zoom, as well as masterclasses, lectures, and vocal clinics for singers, teachers, and institutions. He is also available for opera and musical theatre stage direction.

  • A full-length private lesson designed for in-depth vocal or musical coaching, technical development, and repertoire work. This session allows time for warm-up, focused instruction, and detailed artistic refinement. Recommended for professionals, college-aged students, and audition prep. $65 per lesson.

  • A focused private lesson ideal for targeted coaching, check-ins, or shorter repertoire work. This session emphasizes efficiency, technical clarity, and actionable feedback within a concise time frame. Recommended for pre-performance/audition check-ins, hobbyists, younger and beginning singers. $45 per lesson.

  • An interactive coaching experience designed to refine vocal technique, deepen artistic expression, and elevate performance skills in a collaborative setting. Each masterclass combines individualized instruction with practical feedback on musicianship, interpretation, stage presence, and healthy vocal production, creating meaningful learning opportunities for both participants and observers. Dr. Kyle Melton is a Louisiana-based artist, educator, SVI-trained vocologist, and American Prize award-winning stage director. Maintaining an active performance career, he has appeared with Opera Carolina, Opéra Louisiane, the Turner-Fischer Center for Opera, Operafestival di Roma, and the Accademia dell'Opera Europea. His work as a stage director has earned national recognition, including the American Prize in Stage Direction. Dr. Melton currently serves as Interim Director of Opera and Assistant Professor of Voice at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Dr. Melton holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance from Louisiana State University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Vocology from the National Center for Voice and Speech. His personal journey as a cancer survivor inspired his doctoral research, Singing Through Cancer: Promoting Vocal Health for the Cancer Survivor, and his publication in Classical Singer Magazine. This unique combination of lived experience, artistic achievement, and scientific training has deepened his understanding of the vocal mechanism and allows him to help singers of all backgrounds develop a more intimate and informed understanding of their instrument. Through a holistic practice combining bel canto tradition with contemporary voice science, he guides singers toward greater vocal freedom, artistic authenticity, and a deeper connection with their instrument — empowering them to sing with poise, resilience, and the knowledge to forge their unique artistic path.

Dr. Melton has taught at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Eastern New Mexico University, and Southeastern Louisiana University. His students have earned scholarships and competition awards, gained admission to outstanding undergraduate and graduate music programs across the United States, secured professional artist management, and gone on to perform professionally, including on London's West End. He teaches singers of all levels, combining the timeless principles of bel canto with contemporary voice science to help every student understand their own voice, sing with greater freedom and poise, and go confidently in the direction of their dreams.
